When you're thinking about running a business, you should also think about the copywriting at the same time.

You can do it on your own ... and you can also hire a copywriter you trust.

Copywriting is the art of persuading people to take a decision over a product or service. According to Tom Albrighton(1), copywriting is like a bridge that connects you and what you sell with the people you expect to cross it to you. Whereas the term itself often confuse people, actually copywriting has been around as old as the history of advertising ever existed.

Dominic Gettins(2) described in his book that all advertising is in a way extension of the product. A good copywriter is someone (or a teamwork) that can bring glowing adjectives in the most natural way upon describing something to persuade someone.

The approach could be done through presenting indisputable fact, visual proof, or even by pushing into an extent of a ground-breaking rules, probably even to the extreme.

While the definition above seem mind-blowing, getting a good, suitable copywriter for you and your brand is a matter of recruitment. It is pretty much a HRD thing. Sometimes you don't really get one in the first try. However, it's safe to bear in mind that a good copywriter for you should be communicative and having client-centered orientation. You can also note your own insight on what an indeal copywriter/copywriting should be. Afterall, whatever the aim of their work is, the final result should be for you and your market only.

Jasmine Roberts(3) mentioned in her book that advertising in the business is to heavily support in shaping public opinion about everything. Nowadays a good advertising should not only create awareness and expand market, but also educate the customers. A good copywriter will help you deliver the right message to the outside world.

I just need a copywriter, that might be your quick thought right now.

Sounds complicated? The good news is, you don't have to do your advertising on your own. In fact, delegating the effort to the right person is one of the key to good business governance. Therefore, getting a copywriter to help you is a wise decision even in the very early stage of brand development.

How to find a good copywriter?

1. From search engines like Google, Yahoo search, Bing, you name it.

This is likely the most obvious way, but how do we exactly find a good one from hundreds of search result? We can go into a copywriter's website and assess their capability on their porftolio. Examine their style of wording and see if they are in line with your brand character. If it is needed, talk to some of them in the same time.

2. Searching in social media

For people who are more active in the social media, searching things becomes more convenient through it. Use related hashtags like #copywriter or #copywritersofinstagram or anything you think necessary. Other than the common social media, you can also try to find a copywriter in a more serious platform like LinkedIn.

3. Ask for some recommendation

If you know a businessperson, they would probably come with a better suggestion on which copywriter you should work with. You can also consider to ask in some kind of online forum. It could be fascinating on how some of the netizens actually give honest insight over something, even in some random forum like Reddit or Craiglist.

4. Browse in a freelancer website like Upwork, Truelancer, Fiverr, etc.

If you are okay with the idea of working with someone remotely, a freelancer website could act as an online mall for you to find "the right one". All you need to do is signing up as an online employer, make your short profile, then describe the job that you need someone to do in the available page.
